A Perfect Protein

Compared with other widely consumed meats, turkey breast is naturally low in saturated fat as well as having other attributes of being high in protein and a great source of some essential vitamins and minerals. It's a popular meat for many athletes including swimmers. If that's not enough, there are even more good reasons to eat turkey, it's tasty, versatile, fantastic value for money and better for the environment than any other mainstream meat on the market.

The opportunity to increase British turkey consumption is significant and something we at Bernard Matthews Farms are making major investments in. People in the UK currently consume, on average, 2.8kg of turkey per person each year, with only 6% of households eating fresh turkey regularly, compared to 38% for chicken. In France consumption is at 6.6 kg per person and in the US it's 7.6 kg per person.

Turkey rightly has pride of place in many households at Christmas but we're working hard to demonstrate that turkey can be enjoyed throughout the year, and the many benefits and reasons to bring turkey to mealtimes throughout the UK.
